God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son… And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh.
God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son… And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh.
Why do this study? This happened on the very same day Jesus rose from the dead—and it was the first recorded message of The Christ to His followers after His resurrection. He chose to open the Scriptures and show that all of them point to Him. It explains our state before and after the cross: before, we were in bondage under the fear of death, because the devil held the power of death. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus defeated the powers and delivered us from that bondage. Hebrews 2:14–15 — “that through death he might bring to nought him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and might deliver all them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” Colossians 2:15 — “having despoiled the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
